Dear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year at the South River Primary School. We are a dynamic family of professionals working together to ensure that our students have a positive school experience. We hold high expectations for all learners as we continually assess and evaluate what children need to know. We are constantly striving to better understand what promotes good classroom practices so that our children grow academically, socially, and physically.
To help guide you through this school year, please read and use the 2011-2012 Student/Parent Handbook with your child. Additionally, throughout the year, you will receive monthly calendars of events and other communications from the school and the PTA. At “Back to School Night” you will receive specific information about your child’s curriculum and classroom procedures. Parent/Guardian conferences will afford you the opportunity to speak directly to the teachers about classroom performance and individual progress.
I invite you to become an active participant in your child’s education as you keep the lines of communication open between home and school. All of us share an interest in helping students achieve to the best of their ability.
By working together, we can make this an exciting and successful year for your child. It is my goal to integrate and share our common interests and responsibilities in your child’s education and to encourage individual achievement. I will support all efforts of parents, teachers, and other professional staff members to encourage learning within our school.
I wish everyone a happy, healthy, and successful school year.
Sincerely,
Dorothy J. Unkel
Principal
